FAQs
Choosing a case
What should I consider when choosing a display cabinet for my collectables?
When selecting a display cabinet for your collectables, consider the following factors:
- Size and Space: Ensure the cabinet is large enough to accommodate your items with room to grow. Measure your available space to find a cabinet that fits comfortably.
- Material and Design: Choose materials like glass, wood, or metal based on your style preference and the items you’re displaying. Glass cabinets offer clear visibility, while wood adds a classic touch.
- Lighting: Good lighting, such as built-in LEDs, enhances visibility and highlights your collection. Adjustable lighting can also help reduce glare and showcase items from the best angles.
- Security: If your items are valuable, opt for cabinets with locks to protect them from theft or accidental damage.
- Shelving Adjustability: Adjustable shelves allow you to customise the space for different-sized items, maximising the use of your cabinet.
- Dust Protection: Look for cabinets with doors and sealed edges to keep dust and dirt away, preserving your collectables in pristine condition.
Considering these factors will help you select the perfect display cabinet that both protects and showcases your collectables beautifully.
What are the differences between DF, MAX and SIXTH series?
There are 2 main differences; the size and the weight limit. You may also check out our display guide for an overview of which display series suit your needs. In general, our sixth series are smaller and designed for 1:6 scale figurines while the DF can handle larger, heavier statues (typically 1:4) and the MAX series are designed to hold the largest and heaviest collectibles (Dioramas or 1:3 and above).
Using weight limits as a guide:
- SIXTH series can support up to 15kg weight limit.
- DF series can support up to 15kg weight limit.
- DF series with enhancement upgrade can support up to 30kg weight limit.
- MAX series models (MAX70 / MAX70 Plus) can support up to 40kg weight limit.
- MAX series models (MAX140 / MAX140 Plus / MAX150 / MAX150 Plus) can support up to 70kg weight limit.
- Corner units: SIXTH corners up to 20kg, DF corners up to 40kg, MAX750 / MAX830 Plus corners up to 40kg, MAX1500 / MAX1660 Plus corners up to 80kg.
Each case is designed to carry the cases stacked above it in addition to its own weight limit, so a fully loaded case can still support further cases on top.
How can I protect my collectables inside a display cabinet?
Protecting your collectables inside a display cabinet involves several key practices:
- Temperature and Humidity Control: Keep your cabinet away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and damp areas to prevent damage from temperature fluctuations and humidity. Consider using silica gel packs for humidity control.
- Proper Lighting: Avoid using lighting that generates heat, as it can damage sensitive items. LED lights are a great choice because they produce minimal heat and reduce the risk of fading or warping.
- Use Soft Liners or Risers: Adding soft liners or padded shelves can cushion fragile items. Risers help elevate smaller collectables, preventing them from being hidden or stacked unsafely.
- Regular Dusting and Cleaning: Clean the glass and shelves regularly to keep dust from accumulating. Use a soft cloth or microfiber duster to avoid scratching surfaces or damaging items.
- Secure Placement: Ensure that collectables are placed securely and not too close to the edge. Consider using museum gel or putty to stabilise fragile items, especially if your cabinet is in a high-traffic area.
- Avoid Overcrowding: Overloading your cabinet can lead to items getting scratched or broken. Leave space between pieces to prevent accidental contact and to allow each item to be viewed clearly.
These steps will help you maintain the quality and safety of your collectables, ensuring they remain protected and beautifully displayed.
Can I customise the sizes of the case?
No, We are unable to offer this service for the time being
Stacking and mounting
Can I display collections on the top of the case?
Yes, to do so you will need to purchase the top board accessories. Do note that that different cases have different weight limits;
- DF weight limit on top board (15kg)
- MAX weight limit on top board (40kg)
How many display cubes can I stack up to?
It depends on the series:
- Sixth Series: up to 4 units high free-standing. A 5th unit can be added if the top unit is secured to the wall to prevent toppling.
- DF and MAX Series: up to 3 units high free-standing. A 4th unit can be added if the top unit is secured to the wall to prevent toppling.
Each case is designed to carry the cases stacked above it in addition to its own weight limit.
Can I stack or connect DF and MAX together?
No, only display units within the same series can be stacked or connected therefore a DF unit cannot stack with the MAX.
Can the display be wall mounted?
We advise only the Sixth Series should be wall mounted due to its smaller frame and lighter weight. This is separate from securing the top unit of a tall stack to the wall to prevent toppling, which applies to all series: Sixth Series stacks of 5 units, and DF and MAX Series stacks of 4 units.
