Prime 1 Studio presents Nue, from illustrator Taiki’s original artwork, the latest piece in The Legend of Beauty and the Beast collection, at 1/5 scale.

The Legend of Beauty and the Beast brings Prime 1 Studio together with remarkable artists in pursuit of new heights in sculpture. Taiki’s first solo exhibition featured “reproducible paintings”, with oil-paint-like raised textures designed digitally and realised in print. This statue takes as its motif one of those works: a girl nestled against a grotesque creature.

The massive Nue is captured in meticulous detail, with a simian face painted in reddish brown, tiger-like limbs with bulging muscles and lustrous serpentine scales. Even the back, unseen in the original artwork, has been fully developed. The girl, by contrast, is sculpted with a deliberately doll-like finish. The kaleidoscopic eyes they share are rendered with intricate patterns and a moist sheen.

The themed base draws on the patterns and gold ornamentation of the original background. The Bonus Version, limited to 500 pieces, adds a fabric poster (B2 variant size, 80 × 36.6 cm) of the original artwork.

Display It in a Moducase

Nue is a low, wide piece at 25 cm tall on a 43 × 45 cm footprint, so it fits a Moducase DF60, with a 56 × 56 cm interior and 61 cm of internal height. The Sixth98 (51 × 41 cm inside) is too shallow for the base. LED lighting brings out the gold ornamentation and the sheen of the scales. Moducase panels are not UV-protective, so we recommend keeping your display out of direct sunlight.
